  Happy Mother's Day..Devins Mom...

  I hope you do at least one thing special for yourself!

  All us Mom's deserve it!

  And if some have a JW Mom..you can still give a gift..just tell them it is NOT for Mother's day..they'll buy it!

  My JW Mother in law used to have Turkey on Thanksgiving..but say it was because they were on sale..not because it was Thanksgiving..

  oops..forgot to say what I got.
  My oldest daughter came over and her hubby fixed my computor..
  Also a plant with a huge purple flower in it.Don't have any idea what it is.But it is pretty.Hope I don't kill it.
  And a box of candy and pizza..which they ate half of..(Candy)

  My youngest son came over and fixed my shower so it works..I was starting to stink!
  Then he found out what was wrong with my van after it was broken for a year!
  
  My middle child ..a daughter..just found out she had pluriesy TB. So she is not feeling too good. She has a 6 year old that keeps her busy also. But she is making me a spinach dish I love!

  So I am expremly happy! Usually I am lucky to get a card!

  anyone have a link that shows information on the practice of jw's having wills made in their favor?

  when a person makes out their wills they leave it to the society instead of family?.

  i saw a link one time that quoted a jw watchtower or awake encouraging and showing them how to do this.

  When I was a JW a good JW friend of mine's son 's appendix burst. He was getting all infected inside and they were (the Dr's) going to court to get a court order to give him blood so they could operate.( He was 15)

  Well they managed to get the funds from the KH and flew him to Texas. The Bloodless operation went well and he was soon back on his feet.

  The ironic thing is that 2 years later I heard he was swimming and drowned.I got goosebumps when I heard that.

  I personally would have to really be on my deathbed and it would HAVE to be the only way before I would take blood. I just don't have confidence in their screening process..not because of any JW so called laws.

  I just saw a comercial for a hospital in our city of St Louis that is strickly a No-blood hospital.

  It is the " Forest Park Hospital." I wonder how good their Dr's are?

  Zyban - to quit smoking...

  has anyone used zyban to quit smoking??

  my husband, who has smoked for over 20 years (he'll be 35 this summer) had begun treatment to quit smoking using zyban and nicotine gum & lozenges will be used as well.

  i just had the chronic sinusitis surgery on monday (see post -

  Well I quit smoking with the help of Wellbutrin. It took about 2 months to quit all the way. It really cut down on the urgent need for a cigarette.

  I was really addicted.After smoking for twenty years I couldn't believe it was so easy!..I was a outside smoker so I had to quit for me!

  The Dr said if I DIDN'T quit I would have emphesema (sp?)in 5 years!

  That helped. Plus I really got sick of smelling like a tobacco factory..

  Trust me..I was REALLY addicted!

  I went to the drugstore and stocked up on as many chocolate "Tootsie pops" as I could find. They got to know me very well.

  I had to have something in my mouth!It really helped to suck on a Tootsie Pop.

  Snoozy..who didn't know Zyban was Wellbutrin? That's news to me..is it true?

  I also don't have much faith in the patch or gum. Seems like you would be prolonging the agony.Might as well have a cig..

  They recently reported on the news that Michael had called Jesses Jackson in to pray for him.

  How can MJ be a JW and ask a non-believer to pray with him or for him? When I heard that I just assumed MJ was no longer a "Real " JW?

  Just got back from the Kingdom Hall.....

  the wife and i just got back from the kingdom hall this afternoon.

  some of you may recall that said we would be going back today for a memorial of a close friend of the family.

  so i thought i would share the experience.. i have to start out by saying just getting ready to go was interesting.

  Shunning in the 60's

  as you know i just returned from visiting my great-aunt whom i hadn't seen in 40 years (she's still a jw).

  i asked her if she shunned my mother when she was disfellowshipped in 1964. she said they society did not promote shunning at this time.

  is this true?

  OK here's a really oldie's experience concerning shunning:

  I don't even remember that word coming up in the 50's or 60's.I left in the 70's.

  If a family member had left the JW religion..they could still associate with them but not talk about religion.If they were interested in coming back the disfellowshipped one had to approach an Elder.If they were just not coming to meetings etc. they were to be avoided but encouraged to come back.

  We did have "Bad associations" but the only consequence would be that we would lose our spirituality. (And fall away from the "Truth)

  Now I understand your relatives can't have anything to do with you if you are disfellowshipped? Is that so old people will leave the WTBTS their money instead of their disfellowshipped or "Fallen away " children? Makes sense to me..I think that is their primary goal anyway. To make "Someone" rich! They are always changing the rules to suit their purpose.

  If you read the bible you can find a scripture to back up anything you want to present as a "God's law".

  Think about it....................................

  today, i bought one of those nifty shower heads that come off the wall and have pulse/massage type settings.

  well, i didn't follow directions and i ended up snapping it right off the pipe....oops.

  so, i took it back to the store and said..."i don't know what happened.

  When the "Great Tribulation" and Armaggeddon strike How will we know?

  i have always wonder even as a young child growing up is how will we know that the world has entered into the "great tribulation"?

  how will we know when it is armaggeddon?

  will jehovah or jesus announce from the heavens that it is the time?
